Park Ranger Jobs and QualificationsPark Rangers work in U.S. national parks or state parks, helping campers and tourists as well as protecting wilderness areas and natural resources. Rangers also work with scientists on environmental issues. A park ranger candidate should study park management, natural history, forestry, outdoor recreation or an environmental field. Seasonal part-time ranger jobs are available for students, who may make connections in the field while working their summer jobs. In many state parks, park rangers are law enforcment officers who must have graduated from a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) basic course academy, and who must have a Red Cross advanced first-aid certificate or first responfder certificate and a cpr certificate.
